rob + karen | married

I know I say it a lot, but with these two, it really is hard to know where to begin.

On Saturday, I will stand up with two of my very dearest friends, witnessing, supporting and celebrating their marriage.

A marriage 22 years in the making. Yes, you read that right.

As Karen's maid of honor, I won't be able to photograph the wedding. So, I was thrilled when they asked me to do their engagement photos. We did it up epically-- a camping trip out to Diablo Lake in the Northern Cascades.

Anyway. Back to Rob and Karen. No... you know what? In this case, my faltering words will fall short. The love these two share, the electricity, the passion, the... well damn, there I go again. Let's allow them to speak for themselves.

brad + kelly | engaged | seattle and portland wedding photographer

When Brad first contacted me about photographing his surprise proposal to Kelly at the BIMA, it is needless to say I was pretty stoked. Not only is a proposal just delightful enough to shake up my weekly routine, Brad is just about the sweetest, kindest guy you'll ever meet. Plus, the way he looks at his girl? Oh man.

We met up a couple days before the proposal at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art to lay out our sneaky plan of attack. The museum staff was in on it, I was strategically placed (doing my best impression of a camera-wielding art student), and the goregeous, custom made ring was hanging carefully on a piece created by local artist Steve Parmelee (who just happened to be there, witnessing the whole thing).

The couple arrived, the question was popped, magic happened. A bunch of funny stuff happened in between, but those are stories for another day. For now, we'll let the photos show off.

trisha + jake | seattle + phoenix wedding photographer

Photographing a sunrise session has been on my career bucket list for quite some time. So, when I was planning our trip down to Phoenix, and an opportunity to photograph a few lovely couples came up, this just made sense. Plus, a session on New Year's Day... how cool is that?

So, instead of nursing a hangover with the rest of the world, I racked out of bed early on January 1, and trekked out to meet the beautiful Trisha and Jake for a little sunrise gorgeousness.

What an honor it was to capture their strong, quiet love.

If you're interested in a sunrise session (or any session), let me know. Now that I have a taste for them, I just want more, more more!
